Brian Jacques a.k.a Jakes was born on June 15th, 1939 in Liverpool, England. He is a popular English writer. Bad news for his fans that Brian Jacques has died on February 5th, 2011 in age 71.

Jakes wrote popular novels 'Redwall'. Beside that, he wrote Tribes of Redwall series, Miscellaneous Redwall books, Castaways of the Flying Dutchman series, Urso Brunov, 'The Ribbajack & Other Curious Yarns' and 'Seven Strange and Ghostly Tales'.


Brian Jacques
wrote Redwall novel for the children at the Royal Wavertree School for the Blind in Liverpool, England. He writing as descriptive as possible, painting pictures with words so that the schoolchildren could see them in their imaginations. Brian remains a patron of the school to this day.

Brian Jacques write in Fantasy Novel genre. His writings gained acclaim when his childhood English teacher, Alan Durband, showed it to a publisher books without telling Jacques. This event led to a contract for the first 5 books in the Redwall series.

The latest Redwall series that he has finished is 'The Rogue Crew'. It's 22th books of the Redwall. It will be released on May 3, 2011.
